J.L. Mann honored its student athletes on National Signing Day as Athletic Director Tod Tucker announced their college choices. The students included two baseball players, a football player, six soccer players, a softball player, a swimmer and a cross country//rack signee. Two of the students chose to sign with Clemson, two to Anderson University and one each to James Madison, Limestone, Navy, Newberry, Ohio State, South Carolina and Spartanburg Methodist.
Left-handed pitchers Will Fuqua and Patrick Roth, signed with Wofford and Anderson, respectively. Soccer standouts Jeni Erickson signed with Clemson, Shannon Hetrick with Newberry and Rachel Whaling with Anderson. Aubrey Jones will play soccer for the U.S. Naval Academy, Keaton Hinze for James Madison and Tyler Rider for Clemson. Jonathan Clay-Hanson, a wide receiver for the Patriots’ football team, will play for Limestone. Sequoia Brown will run cross country and track at the University of South Carolina. Amanda McNulty, who helped the Mann girls swim team win a pair of state championships, chose to follow family tradition and sign with Ohio State, and softball player Morgan Smith signed to play at Spartanburg Methodist College.
